2011 END OF YEAR WRAP UP

EXTRAVAGANZA! SPECTACULAR!

Ok… So, maybe it’s not quite all that, but it
was fun wrapping up and finishing off our 2011…
Dave, Shane & Jim sat down… IN THE SAME ROOM
for a change… and talked through their favorite MW episodes
from the past year… And it wasn’t easy. We had a great year,
thanks to all of you and some very special guests…

January got started off right with
Sam Carner & Derek Gregor and that
was followed by a chat with TONY AWARD WINNER,
Betty Buckley

Shane found Kyle Jarrow while stalking Duncan Sheik
of Whisper House fame… and Kyle became the focus of MW74.
Also, in early February we were joined by Cait Doyle
and her production team for
HOT MESS IN MANHATTAN
They were in Dayton for a week to work on the show
at the ETC world headquarters and see the sites of the
thriving metropolis of Dayton.

February ended with Jim & his wife heading to the Big Apple to see
Stephen Cole & David Krane‘s Off Broadway production of
THE ROAD TO QATAR!
While in NYC, there was a meet up at Faces and Names with
several MW alumni…
Noel Katz, Tim Huang, Jordan Mann,
Joe Fabal
(& then girlfriend, now spouse)
Masi Asare, Brooke Pierce & Sam Carner!
(sorry Sam… couldn’t remember who else while doing the live taping…)

In April we were finally able to interview one of Jim’s all time favorites…
Gregg Coffin… and his new musical, RIGHTNEXTTOME.
Jim also spoke with MW favorite, Noel Katz, about a project he was
working on THE THING$ WE DO FOR LOVE
as well as chat with the mayor, Stephen Cole, about
SPIDERMAN the musical, and The ROAD TO QATAR
and its 5 week Off Broadway run.

In the end of April ETC had The BIG FAT CONCERT vol II, featuring
music from many of today’s up and coming creators of musical theater.
In attendance, from NYC, were Derek Gregor & Neville Grusd & his wife…
On May 1st, MW80 featured music as well as a live interview with Derek & Neville.

Later in May, Jim had the opportunity to sit down with Gregg Coffin
& Melissa Rain Anderson who were in Dayton for the premier of
RIGHTNEXTTOME on stage at the Human Race Theatre Company.

In June we featured the writing team of Chris Miller & Nathan Tysen.
I’m pretty sure that’s not the last we’ve heard from them.
Fantastic & talented writing team.

Over the summer we were all crazy busy with ETC productions
and the NEW MUSICAL THEATER FESTIVAL in Dayton…
Our production donations were
PUMP UP THE VOLUME by
Jeff Thomson
, Jeremy Desmon & Jordan Mann
and THE CONSEQUENCES by Kyle Jarrow.

We were again joined in Dayton by Jeff and Jeremy for the festival
weekend as well as another live recording of MW85!
Great shows and awesome people!

We got back at it in October with an episode of THE MORNING AFTER
with Stephen telling about his evening seeing FOLLIES on Broadway.
We also spoke to Keith Gildea & Joe Kiely,
director & creator, respectively,
of CRAB HOUSE a new musical – that was just about to have its’
Off Broadway premier.

In mid November Jim spoke with the creators of JANE EYRE THE MUSICAL,
Rebecca Duvall, Keri Skousen & Bill Kilpatrick.
A beautiful show with incredible music arrangements.

Just a few weeks ago, Jim spoke with Stephanie Karr & Mark Watts.
They are the creators of ELEVEN, A NEW 1930′S MUSICAL.
Jim was fairly familiar with the show as he was the arranger for the music.

That brings us full circle in 2011!
