I just wanted to let everyone know that we have not totally disappeared.
We’re still here… and we’re still interested in your new musicals… BUT…
all 3 of us, Dave, Shane and I have all had a lot of changes in our lives that
Is keeping us busy elsewhere and we just don’t have the time together that
we once had.

I’m saying all this because, over the last several months, I’ve gotten emails
wondering where we went… Well, I still plan to try to release new shows and
interviews as we get them, but we don’t have the time to pursue them as we
once did… so… we’re going to need your help… if you, or someone you know,
writes new musical theater works and wants them to be promoted on MW,
we’d love to be there for you. All you need to do is contact me, Jim Farley,
at jfarley@musicalworld.us and give me your contact information and I’ll be
happy to get back with you and set up a day and time when we can talk!

I know there’s many of you out there and we want to talk with you and get
your shows heard, so… give us a shout! You can always leave us a message

Also… if you’re an alumni of MusicalWorld or Encore Theater Company, we’re
interested to know if anything is happening on your show… whether we did a

MW111 Featuring SERENITY FISHER & MICHAEL RONSTADT and
their musical ? at The FRINGE FESTIVAL in Cincinnati, Ohio

serenity 1michael 1

On this episode we visit with
SERENITY FISHER and MICHAEL RONSTADT
about their recent run of their musical, “?”, at the
Cincinnati FRINGE FESTIVAL back in August.

These quotes, from their bio’s at SerenityFisher.com, describe them best…

Serenity Fisher and the Cardboard Hearts blend playful pop-rock with a

Tim Burton-esque quirkiness. A wordsmith, Serenity Fisher entices stories
into becoming songs using truth-telling, highly-visual lyrics, and dreamy melodies.
Fisher is a powerhouse singer whose nuanced vocals vary from bluesy belt to
sultry whisper, from technical prowess to stripped down raw emotion.
Her piano style is theatrical and passionate. Her music has been compared to
Regina Spektor, Tori Amos and Fiona Apple.”

“Cellist Michael G. Ronstadt, nephew of Queen of Rock Linda Ronstadt,
holds a masters degree in cello performance from the University of Cincinnati’s
College Conservatory of Music (CCM). Ronstadt brings a rich musical heritage
and absolute knack for improvising up a storm.”

We had a wonderful, candid conversation with them about their experience at
The Fringe Festival as well as being full time musicians.

Serenity joined us previously on MW101 with Robin “OK” O’neal Kissell when they
spoke to us about their Fringe Festival musical VORTEX OF THE GREAT UNKNOWN.

Enjoy Michael Ronstadt performing DARK RIDDLES live… This is stunning!

MW106 – FLASHBACK! MW4 – CONVENIENCE – GREGG COFFIN

It’s been suggested by some that we re-release some of the older MW episodes
that, for one reason or another, are very hard to find these days…
and I thought that was a great idea… especially since our schedules
aren’t permitting the time to get as many new episodes recorded!
So… we’re going to start off the MW flashback editions with one of the first
and still one of my favorite new musicals… CONVENIENCE.
This episode originally “aired” on April 2nd, 2006,
shortly after we broke ground on the MW tower. 🙂
Gregg’s music & musicals remains among my favorites in the
new musical theatre genre… Smart, funny and well thought through.

On this episode we hear several songs from Convenience:

Waking Vince/I Love How We Start Off Our Day sung by Jim Poulos, Melissa Rain Anderson and Mary Jo McConnell
Convenient –  sung by Jim Poulos and Mary Jo McConnell
Unsung by Melissa Rain Anderson and Mary Jo McConnell & Jim Poulos
Crawling Forwardsung by Melissa Rain Anderson
Letting Gosung by Jim Poulos and Ron DeStefano
The Ogre and the Wifesung by Mary Jo McConnell and Ron DeStefano
Moving Day/Reprise: Little Spacemansung by Jim Poulos, Mary Jo McConnell,
Melissa Rain Anderson, Ron DeStefano & Michael Dantuono

We take the show out on a song by Dave Hudson and Paul Libman’s musical.
DUST AND DREAMS, called Band Shell.

Gregg has been featured previously on MusicalWorld on
episodes MW8 where we featured FIVE COURSE LOVE,
MW77 when we featured RIGHT NEXT TO ME and
MW81 when he was in Dayton, Ohio for a production of RIGHT NEXT TO ME
with his director, Melissa Rain Anderson!

I’m sure we’ll be hearing from Gregg again in the future!
